About Scoring

Each award division requires the judges to score 5 criteria questions. The nomination is weighted by criteria quesiton with respect to the award division focus. Each judge privately scores each criteria question which results in a final score. The following are the questions and points per criteria questions.

Outstanding Philanthropist Award

1). Description of leadership in securing gifts from others for support of nonprofit organizations in the community, nationally, and/or internationally. (0-20 points)

2). Specific examples of encouragement and motivation given others to take leadership roles toward philanthropy and community involvement. (0-20 points)

3). Description of impact of gift support on above projects. (0-20 points)

4). Specific examples of personal financial resources given in support of projects in the community, nationally and/or internationally. (0-30 points)

5). Specific examples of broad scope of giving and length of giving history. (0-10 points)

 

Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser Award

1). Description of fund raising goals achieved by his/her effort. (0-15 points)

2). Description of participation in other local, national, or international nonprofit organizations. (0-15 points)

3). Specific examples of success in recruiting and motivating others. (0-20 points)

4). Description of time, effort, and financial commitment volunteered to philanthropic activities. (0-25 points)

5). Specific examples of quality of leadership and organizational ability in fund raising campaigns. (0-25 points)

 

Outstanding Fundraising Professional Award

1). Description of individual's commitment to continuing professional development, conference participation, publication and professional education. (0-10 points)

2). Specific examples of commitment to this profession and to philanthropy through voluntary service and support of other professionals and nonprofit organizations. (0-20 points)

3). Description of career achievements: length and tenure of fund raising background, experience, and results. (Recipient should have at least five years of professional fund raising experience). (0-25 points)

4). Specific examples showing that the nominee practices and promotes sound and ethical principles, following the AFP Code of Ethical Principles & Standards of Professional Practice for fund raising professionals. (0-20 points)

5). Specific examples of quality of leadership that is effective, creative, and stimulating, and evidence that the individual acts as a team player. (0-25 points)

 

Outstanding Corporation Award
(company with 100+ employees)

1). Description of impact of gift support on above projects. (0-25 points)

2). Description of in-kind contributions to charitable causes, such as loaned executives, marketing and advertising support, and the impact of such contributions. (0-20 points)

3). Specific examples of encouragement and motivation given employees and others to take leadership roles toward philanthropy and community involvement. (0-20 points)

4). Specific examples of support for creative or innovative approaches to community issues. (0-10 points)

5). Specific examples of financial support of philanthropic projects in the community, nationally and/or internationally. (0-25 points)

 

Outstanding Small Business Award
(Company with fewer than 100 employees)

1). Specific examples of support for creative or innovative approaches to community issues. (0-10 points)

2). Description of in-kind contributions to charitable causes, such as loaned executives, marketing and advertising support, and the impact of such contributions. (0-20 points)

3). Specific examples of support of philanthropic projects in the community, nationally and/or internationally. (0-25 points)

4). Specific examples of encouragement and motivation given employees and others to take leadership roles in philanthropy and community involvement. (0-20 points)

5). Description of impact of gift support on above projects. (0-25 points)
